| Review of the Ukrainian Hair Care Market |
|
The Ukrainian hair care market is growing constantly and now is on its raise. According to Euromonitor estimation, the growth rate of the salon hair care cosmetics has approximately increased by 11, 6% in 2005, if to compare with 2004. The sales volume of hair care products reached 1,248 million USD in 2005 and 1,406 million USD in 2006 (according to preliminary estimate). If to speak about the geography of foreign hair care brands in Ukraine, the doubtless leader is Italy. Professional hair care products, which are produced in Italy, are represented by 35% of all Ukrainian hair care distributors. Germany and France take the second position and make 15% of all hair care products on the Ukrainian market. Note, that the representative offices of Wella Professionals, Schwarzkopf Professional and L’Oreal Professionnel take the leading positions in Ukraine. The cosmetics from the USA, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Spain, Bulgaria, Turkey and Poland are also represented in Ukraine. Besides, there is only one Russian and one Ukrainian hair care products manufactures at the Ukrainian professional market. These are Estel Professional (made in Russia) and Acme Color (made in Ukraine). The competitive movement develops very actively in Ukraine. Wella Trend Vision Award and Hair Extension Championship (it is annually held in the framework of InterCHARM Ukraine) are considered to be the most considerable contests of hairdressers in Ukraine. In 2006, the Ukrainian team of hairdressers has won the fifth place in the command set-off in women technical nomination at the World Championship in Moscow. Present days one of the main features is the fact that the Ukrainian distributors start to support their foreign hair care producers. For example, the Ukrainian Green Light ® representative office has got the right to create the official coiffure collection, which will be published in different countries. The international fashion hair magazine YOU Professional has already printed this collection in issue No1, 2007. |
